3 Things Your Website Needs To Be Prepared For The Holiday's
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard my website clients say “I wish I could’ve done (x) to my website for the Holiday, but now I don’t have time”... And they’re right. The days go by fast and the months go by even faster. You blink and the next thing you know you’re entering into a new quarter. Being ahead of the game is the only way to ensure that your website is always ready and fully prepared for the Holiday’s. In this blog post, I have quickly listed out three things that I personally think every website needs to have in order to be prepared for the Holiday season.
#1) Your main website banner photo needs to be updated. The banner photo I am referring to is the main image on your homepage that your customers will instantly see as soon as they land on your website. Keeping this photo updated for every Holiday season is extremely important for a myriad of reasons. Let’s use Christmas for example. Your main banner photo should feature your product(s) in a Christmas way. Why? Because people are in the Holiday spirit this time of year. They want to envision themselves using your products during this time of year. They also might want to see your products displayed as a gift. Your main banner photo should give off the current Holiday vibe along with your products.
#2) The main products you are selling (whether that be some new arrivals, gift sets, a specific sale collection, etc.) should be directly underneath your main banner photo. Why? Because if you are mainly focused on selling these specific products, then you want them to be front and center on your homepage. You want your customers to be able to easily see these products and either add them to their cart, or click to see more details. Keeping these products front and center on your homepage allows your customers to easily shop, which is extremely important. Are you selling something specific this Christmas season, or offering a special sale? Make sure the products you are selling are featured front and center on your homepage!
#3) Update your announcement bar. What do I mean by this? Your announcement bar is the thin bar at the top of your homepage that usually has some kind of verbiage. Don’t neglect the announcement bar during the Holiday’s! Use the announcement bar to let you customers know what discount code they should use, how long the sale is going to last, when they expect orders to be shipped, etc. Make sure you also include a sense of urgency in your verbiage when you update the announcement bar. For example, “use code CHRISTMAS20 to get 20% off for the next 48 hours ONLY” … Having a statement like this in your announcement bar lets your customers know exactly how to take advantage of the sale and it also lets them know that they don’t have long, so they better start shopping!
I hope you found these three tips helpful. As always, feel free to share this blog post with any other business owner you think would benefit from reading this!
