What's a favicon and why is it important for your website to have one?

When working with my website clients, I can't tell you how many times I have heard "what's a favicon?" In this blog post I am going to quickly explain what a favicon is and why it's important for your website to have one...

When it comes to creating a website, there are many elements that are important to consider. From the layout and content, to the color scheme and navigation, each aspect contributes to the user experience.

However, one element that is often overlooked is the favicon. A favicon is a small icon (usually your logo or something similar) that appears in the browser tab next to the website's name, and while it may seem insignificant, it actually plays an important role in the overall user experience. Here are five reasons why it's important for your website to have a favicon: 

  1. Branding: A favicon is a powerful branding tool. It helps to visually reinforce your brand and make it more recognizable. By having a favicon that is unique to your brand, you can create a strong association between your website and your company or organization.

So with that being said, having a favicon on your website is an important element to have on your website! It can help with branding, navigation, professionalism, differentiation, and accessibility.
